Ratings: Survivor, Two Others Hit All-Time Lows

The tribe has… wait, where is the tribe, specifically the folks age 18 to 49? Because CBS’ 11-year-old Survivor — which has already been renewed for two more seasons — this Wednesday night dipped to an all-time low rating of 2.9 in that coveted demo.

The news was similarly grim for two ABC bubble shows, both of which hit or matched series-low ratings. Compromised by a Modern Family repeat lead-in, Mr. Sunshine plunged more than 30 percent to barely 4 million viewers and a 1.4 rating, while Off the Map (4.2 mil/1.3) dropped double digits in the demo to tie its worst rating, a 1.3.

Elsewhere this Wednesday:

* American Idol‘s Elton John Night delivered 23.6 million tiny dancers and a 7.5 rating, on par with a week ago.

* The CW’s Top Model (2.15 mil/0.9) dipped 10 percent in the demo, while Shedding for the Wedding held steady at a truly sad 983,000/0.4 (!).

* With 12.9 million viewers and a 3.5 rating, Criminal Minds was only down a hair from its last fresh eppy.

* Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (9.34 mil/2.3) led the 10 o’clock hour in total audience, while SVU (8.3 mil/2.5) topped the demos.

  1. Kris says:

Was watching Survivor and following Probsts tweets..

  2. Josh says:

I was watching Modern Family and dreaming of the day when AI is no longer around. Not because of ratings or anything, just because I’m already sick of hearing about it.

  3. Dani says:

ah nooo, sad to hear about Off the Map, I hope it gets renewed, i’m really enjoying it.

  4. francisca says:

Criminal Minds is losing viewers already and it will only get worse from now on. Told You So, is the perfect sentence I have for CBS right now. That episode was awful!

  5. Adlena Alexander says:

Survivors need to vote Phillip off. I still watch it every week.

  6. iambernardo says:

I watched American Idol and then local 9pm news. T

  7. Katt says:

How bout if Probst(and the producers) get rid of their bromance with these two losers, Rob and Russell…..and kick it up a notch….this season is def same ole/same ole…..tiresome with Jeff constantly adding Russel to the mix….to quote other fellow Survivor watchers ‘move on’!

    • John Berggren says:

Russell is already gone and Rob is the most interesting thing about this season.

      • Laura spooner says:

Agreed! Boston rob is so entertaining, funny, smart, and strategic! I started watching survivor again last year because he was on again for heroes vs villians. Love rob!

        • sashay says:

If Rob wasn’t here, the season would be a wash. There’s only so much crazy man muttering you can take, and Phillip is easier to stand when Rob is playing him. I like Matt and Grant for their abilities & fine looks, but I don’t think they alone could manage to entertain me if Rob leaves. The remainders of both tribes are fairly bland, to say the least.
As for Russell, I’d had enough of him the moment he stepped off the helicopter. I would have liked the two veterans to be Rob and Hatch, THAT would have been an interesting session of strategy and manipulation.

  8. Ashley says:

I really enjoyed last night’s criminal minds, I mean the case was really interesting and Chad Lindberg was in it, so I can’t complain. People are pissed that prentiss isn’t in it anymore, and i get that, i was mad too, but I love this show and I’m not going to stop watching it simply because a character is gone. Great Episode that night :)

  9. Guy says:

If CBS want Suspect Behaviour to work they need to overhaul it and change a fair bit. There is no gel. Its just bad and this is despite great castings, the cast just isn’t gelling. Things have to change here.

I love the original Criminal Minds, furious at the fact Prentis is gone as well as JJ but i love Criminal Minds so i won’t stop watching because of it. Last night was a great episode.

  10. Justin says:

No question Survivor is being hurt by Idol, and I believe all things considered CBS is aware of the affect and not terribly concerned.

  11. JohnDoe says:

They better hope that Rob and Philip don’t get voted off soon. Those guys are the only ones with personalities in that entire show. They’ve gotten the biggest edits so far. This has been an even less interesting season than Nicaragua honestly.

  12. chris says:

Survivor is hurting because Russell isn’t on!! This season is so boring. They should bring the person voted out back in a few tribal councils later to stir up the pot-put them on the other team or something.

  13. Katy says:

I wouldn’t blame this on anything other than the fact that EVERYTHING keeps going into repeats – who knows what shows are new anymore!!
Plus, my DVR didn’t tape Survivor :(
