TVLine Items: Private Practice Gets Ready For a Wedding, and Other TV News to Know

Charlotte and Cooper’s wedding day is right around the corner, and the Private Practice Powers That Be are working overtime to make sure everything goes smoothly — right down to picking the perfect parents for the twosome. Heroes fans will be happy to hear that Christine Rose has been cast as Coop’s mom, while Mr. Freedman will be played by Ghostbusters‘ John Rothman, says TV Guide Magazine. Tess Harper (Silkwood) will play Charlotte’s mother/Big Daddy’s widow, Augusta, and all three parental units will be introduced in the ABC drama’s May 5 episode.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum has scored a blind script commitment through a joint deal with Fox and 20th Century Fox Studios, Deadline reports. The actor, who recurs on the new Fox comedy Breaking In (premiering April 6) and will guest-star on Smallville‘s May 13 series finale, has dabbled in writing since vacating the role of Lex Luthor, even developing a sitcom for Syfy last year.

• In addition to Monday’s announcement that Emmy-winner Alan Alda would be a part of The Big C‘s second season, Showtime confirms that actor Hugh Dancy (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Claire Danes’ hubby) will recur on the series.

• Controversial comedian Andrew Dice Clay has landed a recurring gig on Entourage‘s eighth and final season. Clay will play one of the characters on Johnny Drama’s new animated series, says The Hollywood Reporter.

  1. Thom says:

I can’t wait for this wedding. They are the best couple on the show :)

  2. Tania says:

Is Private Practice still airing? Why?

    • xav says:

Why is any show still airing?

    • NCIS4ever says:

I’m been asking the same question for a while now… after Dell’s death, Sam and Addison together and the situation with Betsy I don’t understand how it is still on!!

I loved Addison… but she’s a complete different character from the Addison of GA!

  3. Jamie says:

Wow..still no real love storyline for Addison. Sam has been up and down and as the lead of this ensemble show, it would be nice to see our lead have an adult type romance minus the overused make ups and break ups. Shodna Rhimes once sid this is the more mature version of Grey’s Anatomy. You sure can’t tell it by Addison’s love life SL. Let’s hope Benjamin Bratt’s new character might mean a long last and evolving love story for her, because it seems like Shonda Rhimes, Steve Blackman and ABC are giving up on Addison/Sam without fully giving them the chance that storyline deserved.

  4. Erika says:

It’s about time! I’m so happy about this.

  5. JT_York says:

Finally, some scoop on Charlotte & Cooper’s wedding. Been waiting to hear more bits about it since KaDee Strickland announced it on The View last month.

  6. Lori says:

I like Coop and Charlotte, though my fav couple is Violet and Pete, but I agree, Addison and Sam hasn’t worked at all.

  7. Lauren says:

Wow, will definitely be tuning in to The Big C this season. I watched it last season, but only randomly, and Gabourey Sidibe was the best thing about it. Along with Laura Linney’s fantastic acting. But Hugh Dancy is so pretty, it’d be criminal not to watch.

  8. Lauren says:

And maybe if Shonda replaced the word ‘adult’ with ‘boring and crappy’ then she’d be taken more seriously in her comments.
