The Law & Order franchise is known for looking at the biggest real-world headlines for storyline inspiration, and that seems to be the case with an episode from the upcoming 10th and final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

On the USA Network series, Jay Mohr (Gary Unmarried) will guest-star as a famous and incredibly successful Charlie Sheen-type bad boy. Mohr’s character, Nyle Brite, hails from a different area of the arts: He is a a “rock star” fashion designer whose every creation turns to gold. And his reputation for cocaine benders and call girl-populated parties only skyrockets his career and mints him as the “lovable rogue.”

(Sheen’s most recent hospitalization — the one that led to the shutdown of production on Two and a Half Men and his subsequent firing from the show — followed a now-infamous 36-hour bender with porn stars at his house, which reportedly included large amounts of cocaine.)

Since L&O:CI is of course a crime drama, the plot of the episode includes the murder of a guest at one of Brite’s parties.

Also appearing in the episode, titled “Rispetto,” is Noelle Beck (As the World Turns) as Debra, Nyle’s long-suffering but brilliant wife who has managed to withstand 20 years of his antics because she has secrets of her own.

Meanwhile, an upcoming episode of another Law & Order series, L&O: LA, features a storyline inspired by the recent murder of top Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen.

Law & Order: CI premieres its final season Sunday, May 1, at 9/8c.

  • Love Jay Mohr. He would make a great replacement for Charlie. On Two and Half Men.

  • A Charlie Sheen-type episode? LAME! Why can’t the writers for these L&O shows be a little more original (other than the season fianles)?! Why couldn’t they just book Charlie Sheen on this show (maybe not for this episode), or ‘Law & Order: LA’ (they could use the help)?

From what I keep hearing ‘Law & Order: CI’ is going to be ‘Law & Order: Miami’ (USA Network looking for them ‘Burn Notice’ blue skies) and if that’s the case; they need to step up on the guest stars and ‘storylines from the headlines’! I might watch this… might.
