Pilot Scoop: Wonder Woman Adds Knight Hunk

Former Knight Rider star Justin Bruening has joined another reboot for NBC: Wonder Woman.

The David E. Kelley-penned pilot stars Adrienne Palicki as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, who is a successful corporate executive working to balance all the elements of her complicated life.

Bruening will play Steve Trevor, an army vet who now works in the Justice department and a potential love interest for Diana.

In other pilot news, Desperate Housewives alum Mark Deklin has been added to ABC’s dramedy pilot Good Christian Bitches. It stars Leslie Bibb as Amanda, a onetime “mean girl” who returns home to Dallas hoping to get a second chance at winning over her old classmates. Deklin will play a rugged, metrosexual cowboy married to one of the classmates, Cricket (Miriam Shor). Deklin recently co-starred on Lone Star and is recurring on Hawaii Five-0 and Hot in Cleveland.

Lastly, Dexter alum David Ramsey has been cast in the CW pilot Cooper & Stone, about Jenna Cooper (Alex Breckenridge) and Stone (Vanessa Ferlito), two smart female detectives on Chicago’s North Side who are equally adept at discussing fashion, music and pop culture as they are at solving homicides. Ramsey will play Mazzara, a veteran cop who has no patience for rookies but is tight with Stone. He most recently co-starred on NBC’s Outlaw.

  • I’m still really intrigued by this. Though I’m not normally a superhero fan, I do enjoy DEK’s shows and this has an interesting cast. Though I don’t love the new outfit, I don’t hate it either. I think they leaked the photo to gage the reaction and it will change before we ever see the show if it’s picked up.

  • Oh no!!

The is awful news on so, so, so many levels.

I adore Adrienne Palicki, but – given everything else I’ve read – I’m now completely convinced that this will suc.

    • Whew, close call. You almost had to actually watch it to be completely convinced.

  • I officially want nothing to do with this show. And to think a few weeks ago I was trying to get my sister to give David E. Kelley the benefit of the doubt.

  • I love it (not really). “Bruening will play Steve Trevor, an army vet who now works in the Justice department and a potential love interest for Diana.” Steve Trevor a “potential” love interest. That’s like saying Lois Lane is a “potential” love interest of Superman. Its STEVE TREVOR for goodness sake!

  • Being a FNL fan, I feel so sorry for Adrianne. I’m almost wishing we don’t get to see EVER this pilot.

  • Meh. Really wouldn’t have been my first choice. I only know him from Knight Rider, which was pretty awful. Dunno, doesn’t really seem like the kind of guy Diana would fall for. Whatev. This trainwreck just keeps chugging along.

  • Why is is these days that people just rip into shows that haven’t even been broadcast yet?

So OK, I don’t know this guy, but WW has some great casting otherwise. I was a little nervous about David E. Kelley doing this (and to a degree still am), but I read recently comments he made that indicate that he knows the show is going to demand a different style than other things he has done. Adrianne Palicki’s casting was a bases loaded home run, so I’m delighted with that. I even like the costume, with a little tweaking (like making the boots red instead of blue).

Here is what gets me: if you don’t like the idea of a show, just ignore it. Why do people have to spend all their time attacking it (without even having seen it) instead of just pretending it doesn’t exist? I spend ZERO time trolling about, finding shows to criticize and judge before hand. I’m looking forward to WW. Yeah, I’m nervous that they won’t get it right, but I’m not convinced that they are going to fail.

  • The new Wonder Woman outfit stinks. The Hollywood idiot putting this together chose to take away the SHORTS that are/were on the comic strip AND Lynda Carter outfit- no bright blue with stars. They took AWAY the AMERICA patriotic part. No surprise from the Leftist Hollywood revisionists! PLEASE- we need an outrage that they took away the patriotic pants & design. If they wanted sexy without the cheap toy look, why not just keep the same design? I am NOT watching this crap.
They decided to have ‘Wonder Woman’ not work to help the US gov’t in justice, but be some kind of maverick/renegade- something like that.
The new pants are a dull blue. Blech!
Lynda Carter’s costume had stars in front. The new toy doll & bland snoozy versions have no stars I can see.
    Hollywood reveals itself again.
Of course, it seems DC Comics HAD to ‘re-imagine’ here, also, without the American flag design of the WW costume.
What do you expect? They had the first Capt’n America reboot comic issue smeared the Tea Party and the make of the Capt’n America movie smeared patriotic Americans by saying he didn’t want his Capt’n America be a “jingoistic flag waver”.
Gee, wonder where he got “jingoistic” from? What political philospohy uses that?!
