TVLine Items: Jason George Off to Castle, Buffy Gets Psych'd, and Other TV News to Know

Off the Map‘s Jason George is taking a break from saving lives in the jungle to help solve crime on ABC’s Castle.

George will play an entrepreneur whom Beckett and Castle meet during their upcoming trip to Los Angeles to investigate a murder, says EW.com. As TVLine first reported, Prison Break alum Dominic Purcell also appears in the episode as a Hollywood businessman with a connection to the big case.

Off The Map airs its first season finale on April 6.

• The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson, is dropping by Psych for a fun episode this summer, says TVGuide.com. As a nod to her supernatural past, Swanson will play “a beautiful and mysterious woman” that Shawn and Gus suspect of killing a man “vampire-style.”

• Funnyman Zach Galifianakis has inked a deal with HBO, says Deadline, and his first project under the new pact is mockumentary-style comedy fronted by lesser-known comedian Brody Stevens. Galifianakis already has a close relationship with the cable giant, having co-starred on their series Bored to Death.

• Judd Hirsch (Taxi, Numb3rs) has joined the Season 4 cast of Damages, says EW.com. The veteran actor is set to play Patty’s former mentor, who now spends a majority of his time “at the bottom of a bottle.” Damages‘ new season premieres in July, exclusively on DirecTV.

• Syfy has unveiled their super-sized 2011 lineup, and it includes the July premiere of their new scripted drama Alphas plus three new reality series (Haunted Collector, Legend Quest and Paranormal Witness). The network also has more than a dozen other projects in development, including the Battlestar prequel Blood & Chrome, a Lee Majors-starring Me and Lee, more ghost hunting via In the Dark, and the rocker-reality series Culture Shock with Tommy Lee, to name a few. Controversial photographer Tyler Shields also has his own self-titled docu-series in the works, produced by Heroes alum Zachary Quinto, while spiritual teacher Deepak Chopra will serve up the reality show Dinner with Deepak.
