Off the Map‘s Jason George is taking a break from saving lives in the jungle to help solve crime on ABC’s Castle.

George will play an entrepreneur whom Beckett and Castle meet during their upcoming trip to Los Angeles to investigate a murder, says EW.com. As TVLine first reported, Prison Break alum Dominic Purcell also appears in the episode as a Hollywood businessman with a connection to the big case.

Off The Map airs its first season finale on April 6.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson, is dropping by Psych for a fun episode this summer, says TVGuide.com. As a nod to her supernatural past, Swanson will play “a beautiful and mysterious woman” that Shawn and Gus suspect of killing a man “vampire-style.”

• Funnyman Zach Galifianakis has inked a deal with HBO, says Deadline, and his first project under the new pact is mockumentary-style comedy fronted by lesser-known comedian Brody Stevens. Galifianakis already has a close relationship with the cable giant, having co-starred on their series Bored to Death.

• Judd Hirsch (Taxi, Numb3rs) has joined the Season 4 cast of Damages, says EW.com. The veteran actor is set to play Patty’s former mentor, who now spends a majority of his time “at the bottom of a bottle.” Damages‘ new season premieres in July, exclusively on DirecTV.

• Syfy has unveiled their super-sized 2011 lineup, and it includes the July premiere of their new scripted drama Alphas plus three new reality series (Haunted Collector, Legend Quest and Paranormal Witness). The network also has more than a dozen other projects in development, including the Battlestar prequel Blood & Chrome, a Lee Majors-starring Me and Lee, more ghost hunting via In the Dark, and the rocker-reality series Culture Shock with Tommy Lee, to name a few. Controversial photographer Tyler Shields also has his own self-titled docu-series in the works, produced by Heroes alum Zachary Quinto, while spiritual teacher Deepak Chopra will serve up the reality show Dinner with Deepak.

  • Puh-lease, don’t mention Buffy and Kristy Swanson in the same sentence. I thought you were saying something about SMG making a guest appearance on the show. Those of us that had the misfortune of watching the movie after becoming fans of the TV show, were horrified by her mis-acting, not to mention how the producers messed with Joss script and vision.

    • Well, it’s your own fault sashay that you didn’t watch it before the tv series. It’s so campy, and hysterical to watch. I can’t wait to see her on Psych. I was surprised that it was her instead of SMG, but I think it’s a great fit for Psych.

      • Don’t defend them, the movie might have come first, but that is not what everyone thinks of when you say Buffy

  • Puh-lese, don’t mention Buffy and Kristy Swanson in the same headline. I thought you were talking about SMG making a guest appearance on the show, not that hack. Just another reason to not bother checking out Psyched.

  • So why the picture of Isiah?

Comment by Laura – March 23, 2011 04:58 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • The person in the picture is Jason George not Isaiah Washington if that’s what you are asking.

  • That is not a picture of Isiah. It is a picture of the sexy Jason George will be guest starring on Castle.
