NBC Unveils Summer Sked: America's Got Talent Returns May 31, Love Bites Still MIA

NBC has unveiled its summer schedule and a trio of dust-collecting comedies  — Love Bites, Friends with Benefits and The Paul Reiser Show — are nowhere to be found. Instead, we’re getting a slew of unscripted shows, including the return of reality juggernaut America’s Got Talent on Tuesday, May 31 (9/8c).

Additionally, a new season of Jerry Seinfeld’s The Marriage Ref kicks off on Sunday, June 26 (10/9c), and rookie singing contest The Voice bows on Tuesday, April 26 (9/8c).

Other highlights from NBC’s summer sked

| Two new game shows — the Cedric the Entertainer-hosted It’s Worth What? and the fast-paced trivia competish Still Standing — will debut this summer, although the exact premiere dates are still TBD.

| New reality series Love in the Wild — which sounds like a cross between Survivor and The Dating Game — will also launch this summer.

| The final 10-episode season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will premiere on Monday, May 30 (9/8c).

  • America’s Got Talent is your best opportunity to see some outstanding variety acts eventually lose to a certain-to-be-forgotten mediocre Country Music singer.

  • Glad to see I can cross NBC off summer viewing. I don’t know how NBC and USA are sister networks. USA is pretty much all I watch during the summer anyhow.

  • Law and Order: Criminal Intent is on UPN (it hasn’t been on NBC since 2007, though I think it has aired reruns on NBC at some point). Might want to make note of that.

      • Yeah, I think you mean USA, which is a sister network to NBC, and the aforementioned original episodes WILL air on NBC this summer.

    • I hope on the shelf for good, you know, The Pilot Graveyard. IMO, the preview clips that I had seen were blah. I hated that they got rid of Fran Kranz.

  • With how in demand Becki Newton and Jordana Spiro supposedly were last season, it’s kind of ironic they both picked a project that was so completely DOA.

  • Paul Reiser is such a nice and funny guy. It’s too bad they won’t bring him back to TV. Keep shopping Paul. Good luck. Why is it nice guys finish last?

  • Jackie Evancho’s new CD is due to be released in June. It would be great if AGT would invite her back to give a performance from the new CD!

  • I dont get why they wont try airing Love Bites. It was their biggest show at unfronts and they already spent the money making 9 episodes. Why dont they try and get a profit from it. EVEN DVDS!!
