  • I don’t mind the costume, though I wish it looked a bit more like armor and less like liquid latex:) Palicki has the height and build for the role, but I feel that her face is bit too soft and well… pouty to portray the strength and character you would expect. This is not to denigrate or diminish her appearance or acting abilty, but she just doesn’t look like a warrior.

  • Looks like a costume for a porn parody.

  • Hate it. She looks like a blow-up doll. Not the superhero I’d want any girl looking up to. And, where are her muscles? Looks like they’re all in her chest. How the heck is she going to keep those is while she’s “fighting crime”. Is she even going to have a brain? Seriously? I’m not even going to think about watching this show.

  • I think it looks pretty good. A nice mix of the classic suit and the current costume of the comics. I like they kept the red/gold/blue. The braclets/tiaria all look good. Would have liked the boots to be red. And a lighter shade of liptstick. But overall a good suit. And probably will look better in proper lighting/context. Where as this photo is shot in front of harsh light and light bouncing all over it. Plus who knows if the show goes to series we could see costume getting slight changes from time to time. Happened all the time in lois and clark 90s superman with cain’s costume.

  • I think I saw this costume at a lingerie store when I was shopping with my girlfriend at the time. This doesn’t even slightly resemble an Amazonian princess and warrior. She really really good looking so the man in me is still going to watch the show.

  • The pants don’t have a zipper. Does she paint them on or does she butter her legs to get into them?

  • I thought this was supposed to be an updated edgy wonder woman. Sure she’s wearing pants now but the whole outfit is a little ridiculous.

They should have gone with something more like the new Wonder Woman graphic novel design: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/30/books/30wonder.html?_r=1

Not to mention Adrianne Palicki, talented as she may be, looks like a Junior Pagent Princess who would have trouble kicking a twelve-year-old’s ass let alone a fully formed thug.

  • So much better than I was fearing it would look. Thank heavens they didn’t go for the short shorts.
They just need tone down the lipstick a LOT, shrink the bracers, make the lasso look a little less cheap and perhaps fine tune the exact shade of blue.
Not worried about the shiny-ness since a test shot is going to be lit way more than the show normally will.

  • Wow. I thought Wonder Woman was supposed to be a crime fighting superheroine, not a trick turning dominatrix! What’s her superpower? The ability to poke someone’s eyes out with her wonder boob job?!

Comment by Jo – March 18, 2011 03:23 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • This is more ‘Best Girlfriend in the world’ than crime fighing superhero. I think someone should send Mr Kelley some of the concept art from any of the Batman movies. Or from NBCs the Cape – even that looked better. Or maybe the internet will make them re think there awful decision?

  • Boots are the wrong color. Bracelets are the wrong metal. Girl is too squinty. Lipstick is too red.

The Whole Thing looks plastic. The. Whole. Thing.

  • I love it! I’m a sucker for cheesyness and I think it’s hard to make Wonder Woman legit and realistic. She does have the Lasso of Truth and an invisible airplane. It think though the show may not do great I will be one geek who definitely gives it a chance!

  • It is awful. She looks like she is wearing a cheap Halloween costume you would buy out of a box at Toys ‘R’ Us. For a show promising not to be “campy”, she looks like she is guest starring on an episode of the original “Batman” series. The bracelets should be gold, not silver, they clash with the rest of the outfit, however awful and grotesquely shiny it may be.
Here are 6 other things wrong with it:

  • Ok, if they expect the show to be taken seriously they need to get the Smallville costume designers in here right away, the last two seasons have shown Clark with his “S” but managed to update it in various outfits so it appears current.

    Good luck Adrianne.

  • Little bit of Wonder camel toe going on. Frightened more by the script than the costume. From what has been reported the script is horrible.

  • The seam on her pants and the seam on her bustier do not line up. This is really bugging me! Her pants look like cheap yoga pants – they should be seamless across the front. Fixing this would make the costume more appealing to the eye.

Comment by Jen – March 18, 2011 05:10 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • What, you mean you don’t think the pants should be giving the illusion of camel toe with that seam? (Here I thought they were just being blatant in their target audience desires….)

Comment by Kelly – March 19, 2011 02:26 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • I agree she looks cheap & sluttish. Not sure why they made the suit so shiny & so much make-up. I’ll wait to see it moving. ….

  • I could’ve gotten past the ultra shiny hooker look if the costume had been made right. Does NBC not employ a tailor in their costuming department? The crotch on the leggings is hanging too low, but they’re wrinkling along to boot tops.

And how about that obviously fake hardware? Nothing says warrior goddess like gold colored plastic!

I’m okay with the boots being a non traditional color, but why on Earth are the made to blend into the pants? They lack definition.

Then again, maybe the shine from the latex is supposed to replace the lasso of truth. The bright lights compell the villains because the dinky rope sure isn’t going to do the job.

So sad that in today’s world where comic book heroes can be and look awesome on screen we have people still dedicated to foolishness, camp and over sexualization. Wonder Woman can be sexy without looking like a cheap stripper.

Take away the shine, make the hardware look real, change the material of the pants and change the color if either the pants or the boots.

Comment by Dulci – March 18, 2011 05:18 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • It’s not great. I’d get rid of the red stars on the tiara, bustline, and belt. I’d also get rid of the gold stripes on the boots. Way less lipstick. And she needs to buff up. The only thing they’ve got right so far, really, is the bustier. She fills that nicely.

  • I love how disgruntled fans make quick work of it. Someone modified the colors of the costume and darkened the color of Adrianne’s lipstick:

    • You know with it darkened up and the changing of the boot color, I like it better. Still would like the a little less detail of the boot cuffs and hip belt.

  • It’s a horrible photo. Why is she clenching her jaw? She has the squarest shaped head in this photo. The pose sucks. In another context or her more relaxed this could have worked. They tried way too hard!

Comment by Kris – March 18, 2011 08:23 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • This looks like a costume you would buy for Halloween. I think I have an issue with it being too shiny as well. I think there is too much detail with the boots and hip area. I don’t have a problem with the breast plate. Hopefully they rework this before finalizing for the show.

Comment by Jade – March 18, 2011 08:28 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • I think both the actress and the costume don’t fit THE Wonder Woman.

Comment by CB – March 18, 2011 09:25 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • It takes a whole lotta bad to make Adrianne look horrible.

Seriously, all you need to do is pull up a pic of Lynda Carter and compare the costumes. This one looks like something you’d buy in a stripper store. They want it to be non-campy and realistic and THIS is what they come up with???

The costume has been around for 70 years. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You can’t just take the costume of such an iconic character and muck it up like this.

How far do you think Chris Nolan would get if his Henry Cavill Superman had a bright gold plastic S on his chest with bright pleather pants and blue boots? Or how about a bright shiny grey batsuit for Christian Bale’s next Batman movie, with bright shiny yellow boots and gloves with a big plastic gold bat on his chest? Why does Wonder Woman deserve any less respect than Superman and Batman???
