TVLine Items: Zach Gilford Is Off to Iceland, Bachelorette Reveal, and More TV News to Know

Someone’s changing climates again. After trading sweltering Texas for the steamy South American jungle, Zach Gilford is now headed to Iceland.

The former Friday Night Lights star has joined the cast of Iceland, a Fox drama pilot about a young woman who has just lost her fiancé. Gilford will play the “bad influence” friend of the series’ leading lady, says Deadline.

Gilford’s casting is, of course, in second position to his’s current gig on ABC’s bubble series Off the Map. His co-stars Martin Henderson and Rachelle Lafevre have also booked pilot roles, respectively.

Want more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• The “Who will be the next Bachelorette?” speculation will be a thing of the past when the lady-in-question’s identity is revealed Monday, March 14 on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel will then sit down with the soon-to-be serial dater, who will dish on what she wants in her future suitor.

• Nickelodeon has greenlit a fourth season of the hit series Yo Gabba Gabba. Production on the kiddie fave’s 13 new episodes begins this summer.

Hawaii Five-0 was back in production Friday following a night of tsunami warnings in Honolulu. “Back at work, bleary eyed & heartsick, but very grateful,” Daniel Dae Kim tweeted this morning. “As far as I know, everyone is safe.”

Deadline, meanwhile, has delivered these additional pilot castings:

Saturday Night Live vet Tim Meadows has joined NBC’s untitled Kari Lizer pilot. Meadows will play the psychotherapist pal of Sarah Paulson’s peppy leading lady.

Days of Our Lives/The Mentalist alum Eric Winters has been cast in the CBS drama Weekends at Bellvue. Winters will play a “scruffy and sexy doctor.”

• Troubled star Tom Sizemore has landed his first starring role in nearly a decade, opposite Ethan Hawke in Fox’s CIA drama Exit Strategy.

  1. Donna says:

Exit Strategy. Now that’s a funny title for anything starring Tom Sizemore.

  2. Sarah says:

I don’t understand what this means for Off the Map… THREE of them are cast in other pilots!? It must be toast!

  3. Lore says:

Just tell us, Off the Map is dead oe what, i like that show.

  4. Kat says:

Maybe ABC shoudl reconsider ditching “Off the Map” since so many of the show’s actors are so hot right now! Plus, I love the show and I think it gets better every week! It’s as good as Grey’s and much better than Private Practice! C’mon! Give it another year! And if you want to see ratings then give us a smooch between Brenner and Keaton!

  5. Emily says:

Not happy about this Iceland news at all. I really Off the Map and agree with Kat when she says that it is better than Private Practice. I hope it gets to stick around.

  6. Allison M says:

I wish he would go back to playing likeable nice-boy characters. He doesn’t need to be Matt Saracen again, but I liked him so much in FNL that I simply could not watch his annoying character on Off the Map

  7. yic says:

Zach is soooo cute!!!. Off The Map is the worst crap on TV. Those actresses are so frakkin boring, OMG!!!! Fine some actresses that are appealing and then maybe the show has a chance.
