TVLine Items: Terminator Returns, ABC Family Plays Lying Game, and Other TV News to Know

So what if Summer Glau is currently spending some time on The Cape — she’ll always be Cameron Phillips to us. And now, thanks to Syfy, she’ll live on forever.

Following its cult-followed — but short-lived — run on Fox from 2008-09, Syfy has picked up all 31 episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and plans to launch them Thursday, April 7 at 9/8c, reports.

No new episodes are in the works (sob), but the network will air not one, not two, but four hours of TSCC each Thursday.

Ready for more of today’s TV news? Well…

• Syfy also announced their spring premiere lineup, with a Top Chef alum’s new series leading the pack: Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen makes its debut Tuesday March 22, at 10/9c; Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files returns Wednesday, March 23 at 10/9c; Sanctuary is back Friday, April 15 at 10/9c; and Stargate Universe‘s final 10 episodes begin Monday March 7, at 10/9c.

• Your next guilty pleasure alert! ABC Family has officially picked up The Lying Game, a one-hour drama based on the novels by Sara Shepard — yep, the Pretty Little Liars author. Lying is sort of a much darker Parent Trap, and stars Alexandra Chando (As the World Turns), Blair Redford (90210) and Kirsten Prout (Kyle XY).

• Saturday night’s NBA All-Star Game delivered its highest ratings since 2003, which featured Michael Jordan’s final appearance. The TNT televised game delivered 9.1 million total viewers.

That’s it for today. Which TVLine Items have you talking?

  • This is like the third misleading headline this week. I’m getting a little sick of getting my hopes up only to have them dashed by the article.

    • @Sam,

It’s only “misleading” to those still credulous enough to believe TERMINATOR has a chance of coming back. It doesn’t. You may now move on with your life.

      • Almost as good as the Firefly shout-out on Castle last night!

Besides, River and Cameron’s delivery wasn’t all that different. Summer Glau said she was afraid she was never going to get to play an ordinary girl.

Comment by Stacie – February 22, 2011 12:42 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • @Stacie – Last 10 episodes for the series, since the show has been canceled. Once the back half of season 2 is broadcast, it’s over.

  • Why does Syfy air their original series at 10/9c only?

  • Re: the top chef thing.
Out of all the chefs featured on Top Chef, the whiny crybaby Marcel gets his own show? WTF?

  • You’re so cruel… You got me with that headline. Too bad, the Sarah Conner Chronicles will not return. But the hope will never die! ^^

  • Wish SyFy would take some of the money they waste on those crappy Saturday night monster movies and make a Sarah Connor movie/mini-series with it. Just so we fans could get some closure with an actual conclusion to the series (and not just be stuck forever with that killer cliffhanger).

    • AMEN! Or putting the dough toward Stargate movies, or keeping Universe on the air! It’s not as good as SG-1 or Atlantis but a fast cancellation is a lame end to a franchise like this.

Comment by Ryan – February 23, 2011 09:31 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Amen to that, we keep losing shows with awesome cliffhangers only to have them cancelled and all kinds of “Dreck” is still on the air.
Sci-Fi (I refuse to use “Siffie” syfy) should also pickup The Event, and V (how much of a better fit could you ask for? Bring back Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe (or a 2hr movie) and of course SG-1, there is so much more that could be done with all of them.

Maybe if the fans took up a collection, Sci-Fi might see how many people want the Sarah Conner Chronicles to continue even in movie increments, as you said it sure would beat those idiotic movies they make, pity we can’t get a face to face with Sci-Fi management, they never reply to messages left.

With all the idiotic shows out now, why on earth can they not revive some great shows killed before their time like Threshold.

  • This is almost great news. Loved the series, and excited that someone is picking it up, even if only to be rerun. Maybe if the numbers are good enough, ScyFy may think about producing new episodes. I know that they won’t, but love the Terminator mythos, and TSSC was an excellent show that died before it’s time.
And yes…Summer will always be River, but she is good enough to encompass both, and she can always be Cameron too.

  • Alas Syfy stopped brutally airing TSCC.
Someone needs to give summer Glau a leading role in a tv series or movie. I think she would have been perfect for Natalie Portman’s role in Black Swan. She is so talented, driven, and engaged that she excels almost immediately in any part she plays. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and she has a raw and pure talent that allows her to breathe vivacious life into her characters.

Summer Glau is rumored to guest star in Syfy new serie Alphas.
