The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Week

Between the broadcast and cable networks, there are exactly one kajillion different things to watch this week. We’re here to tell you about 22 of ’em.

8/7c |
Chuck (NBC) | For their first “engagement” (heh) as fiancé and fiancée, Chuck and Sarah make tracks for Morocco to rescue superspy Roan Montgomery (returning guest star John Larroquette). Thing is, the master seducer doesn’t fancy himself in need of saving.

8 pm | House (Fox) | When Cuddy’s mom goes from being a PITA to the POTW, House pulls out all the (ethical) stops to save her bacon.

9 pm | The Chicago Code (Fox) | Shawn Ryan (The Shield) sired this stellar new drama about a top cop (The L Word‘s Jennifer Beals) who enlists her former partner (Brotherhood‘s Jason Clarke) to help bring down a corrupt alderman (Delroy Lindo). Top-quality, Windy City-worshipping stuff.

9 pm | Two and a Half Men (CBS) | Get ’em while their fresh/no one’s incarcerated!

Castle Soaps Up With Stars of ABC Daytime

8/7c |
Glee (Fox) | The best episode in a while? Read my p’review™.

9 pm | Raising Hope (Fox) | Watch the first new episode in months or Maw Maw’ll flash you.

9 pm | Hellcats (The CW) | I’m a sucker for flashback episodes, so sit back and see how Savannah & Co. made their own debuts as Hellcats.

10 pm | Parenthood (NBC) | Guest Star Alert #1: Sexy John Corbett begins a run as Sarah’s ex!

10 pm | The Good Wife (CBS) | Guest Star Alert #2: Michael J. Fox sews up his 2011 Emmy nom by returning as neurologically impaired attorney Louis Canning!!

10 pm | White Collar (USA Network) | Guest Star Alert #3: Billy Dee Williams “Landos” on the series as an old flame of June’s (Diahann Carroll)!!!

Glee Valentine’s Episode Preview: Your Burning Questions Answered!

9/8c | Friday Night Lights
(DirecTV) | Lucky-duck subscribers to the dish service get to see how the clock runs out on the beloved series; Season 5 starts up on NBC April 15.

9 pm | Human Target (Fox) | The second season finale finds the team’s future in jeopardy when Chance digs into Ilsa’s late husband’s past.

9:30 pm | Mr. Sunshine (ABC) | Matthew Perry has big wine glasses shoes to fill, replacing Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town for the next nine Wednesdays.

10 pm | Justified (FX) | Based on the Season 2 episodes I’ve screened thus far, the Southern-fried drama is every bit as good as you remember, populated by a colorful cadre of new scalawags (including Million Dollar Baby‘s very mean mom).

Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton Developing FX Drama

8/7c |
The Vampire Diaries (The CW) | Embrace VD – Valentine’s Day, duh – as Stefan and Elena try to have a “normal” night together. Good luck with that, kids.

9 pm | Bones (Fox) | Speaking of the most romantic time of year, Booth has somehing he wants to ask Hannah. (And no, it’s not “How many more episodes are you signed for?)

9:30 pm | Parks and Recreation (NBC) | Ron’s ex hilariously marks the spot when Megan Mullally resurfaces as Tammy.

10 pm | Archer (FX) | An animated paternity test? What?

Scoop! Community‘s Abed Takes On Who’s The Boss?

8/7c |
Smallville (The CW) | Annette O’Toole returns as Clark’s mom – though perhaps for the lousiest of reasons.

9 pm | Fringe (Fox) | You thought we were done visiting the alternate universe? Hardly.

11:30/10:30c |
Saturday Night Live (NBC) | Russell Brand hosts. All together now, sing: “Inside of youuuu…. Inside of youuuu….”

SNL With Dana Carvey: The Best and Worst Skits!

9/8c |
Desperate Housewives (ABC) | Before he saddles up for TNT’s reboot of Dallas, Larry Hagman drops by Wisteria Lane as Lynette’s obnoxious new stepdad.

  7. Lord Vader III says:

“Landos” ? At least get the character name right.

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Oh, I got it plenty right. In a Pulitzer-level play on words, I substituted “Landos” for the word “Lands,” expertly evoking BDW’s famous “Star Wars” role.

  8. Rachel says:

About time Parenthood was on here!

    • Lea says:

Yep, about time to see it on the list! I’ve seen sneek peaks at this week episode and now I can’t wait!! Very strong acting from Lauren Graham! I love it!

  19. mina says:

Modern Family, Cougar town, How I met your mother, pretty little liars…those shows are missing, but it’s nice to see you didn’t forget Vampire Diaries this week!

  20. handtalker says:

No Castle? Or Supernatural? Or Archer? FAIL.

  21. Liz says:

Forget House, it’s not good anymore! What about HIMYM and Castle, way more awesome!!!

  22. timotey says:

Too bad you didn’t pick Supernatural since this is the ep many wanted to see: What did Sam do during the year Dean played husband?

  28. dalia says:

what about pretty little liars ?? can’t wait to see martha’s return in smallville

  29. ripleyaeryn says:

Seriously? No V series?! It’s a VERY VERY important episode to come! Please Watch V series that ABC gave the show a third season!

  30. sabi says:

And again no NCIS on the list -.- always the same shows, its’s gettin kinda boring

  31. denise says:

Caught up on Being Human, it is added to my must see list.

  32. tracy says:

Um, how about NCIS and NCIS; LA? How about Greys Anatomy? How about Shameless — which is way better sunday television than desperate housewives.

  33. Jacqi says:

Can’t wait to see Bones and Glee this week! And its a good thing I already know Hannah is leaving soon, otherwise I might be mad if Booth proposes.

  34. V says:

Can we get a list of what shows have new episodes each week vs. repeats? Because this list consistently leaves off shows I watch regularly, and I’d prefer a list that I can check to see if I’ve got a new ep.

    • DarkHawke says:

Dude, that’s what your DVR’s for. Yes, there are some criminally neglected shows in this column, but you can’t expect him to cover all of YOUR favorites.

  35. Dave says:

What about the grammy’s, isn’t that one this week or weekend? And Booth probably will propose to Hannah, which should be the beginning of the end for her. But fingers crossed that his question is “why am I with you when I can be with Bones?”

  36. Greek Fan says:

So you guys have been posting ARTICLES about TONIGHT’S EPISODE OF GREEK with the MORNING AFTER PILL STORYLINE…but it’s NOT on your “TV worth watching this week” LIST?

  37. DarkHawke says:

Dude! No love for Detroit 1-8-7 AGAIN?! It’s ONLY the best new show this season, not to mention already as intriguingly dense and comfortable as any great cop show you’d care to mention! Sadly, its ratings-challenged, so it needs all the good buzz and loyal viewers it can get! Please folks, give it a shot this week. Michael Imperioli is riveting, and James McDaniel is an effin’ revelation!

  38. mxqueen says:

Must see for me is Fringe. The direction they’re going with Peter in this season is fascinating. I can’t wait to see what happens.

  39. Lenka says:

Can´t wait for Parenthood this week! the sneak peeks are amazing. John Corbett and Lauren Graham rock this episode! What a power couple.

  40. Sasha says:

Gee Matt, another slap in the face to ‘Lights Out’..That’s ok, maybe if y’all turn against it, it’ll get more viewers..

  41. Mel. says:

Just finished watching Mr. Sunshine (on a Canadian channel tonight). It was great. I hope the rest of the episodes are just as good or better. Loved it!

  42. Alice says:

No Modern Family? But it’s the return of Clive and Julianna!
