Exclusive: Richard Dreyfuss Joins Parenthood

Mr. Holland is headed to Parenthood!

Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss is joining NBC’s sublime family drama for a multi-episode arc, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Renewal Scorecard: Will Parenthood Be Back Next Season?

The star of The Goodbye Girl and Mr. Holland’s Opus will appear in this season’s final four episodes as Gilliam T. Blount, a once-great theater producer who also happens to be an old friend of Zeek’s (Craig T. Nelson). Blount is looking to stage a comeback, which makes me think Jasmine (Joy Bryant) will somehow be involved.

Dreyfuss is coming off a recurring gig on Showtime’s Weeds, where he played Nancy’s adoring Math teacher.

  • Cool. Although the storyline won´t be about Jasmine;) I´m really excited about the second half of the season.

  • Yes, those Parenthood fans who search for spoilers know what storyline this is! And it’s not about Jasmine. : ) So excited. I’m surprised Ausiello doesn’t already know about these spoilers. Time to step it up for Parenthood, Mike. :P

  • Huh. At first I thought he’d be cast as either Kristina or Joel’s dad. Guess not. But seriously, what about THEIR families? I know that the Braverman’s are awesome, but Kristina and Joel have to need to want to deal with their families too. Just saying.
