Life's Damian Lewis Joins Claire Danes In Showtime Pilot

Showtime’s Homeland drama pilot is in the home stretch when it comes to rounding out its cast.

Previously, the series cast Emmy winner Claire Danes (Temple Grandin) in the lead role of Carrie Anderson, a CIA officer who comes to suspect that an American soldier who has miraculously escaped from years of captivity in Iraq may in fact now be part of an Al Qaeda plot.

Damian Lewis, familiar to TV viewers from his run on NBC’s short-lived Life, has now been cast as the aforementioned POW, U.S. Marine Sergeant Scott Brody.

Further fleshing out the Homeland cast are Laura Fraser (A Knight’s Tale) and Diego Klattenhoff (Men In Trees‘ hockey star, Ivan), playing Brody’s wife and best bud, respectively.

Original Criminal Minds cast member Mandy Patankin plays Carrie’s CIA boss and mentor.

Homeland begins production this month, and is executive-produced by 24‘s Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa.

Exciting. I was wondering about Damien just the other day, thinking my tv viewing is lacking real actors who have serious chops.

It was tragic that “Life” ended so soon but this Homeland drama sounds intriguing.
