Showtime Renews Dexter For Sixth Season

There will be (more) blood, given the news that Showtime has not surprisingly renewed Dexter for a sixth season.

Dexter is the best suspense drama on television,” Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said in announcing the pick-up. “To grow its audience so significantly in its fifth season is an enormous accomplishment by this amazing cast and crew. This is the easiest decision I’ve made since I got to Showtime.”

Currently inching ever closer to its Season 5 finale, Dexter netted seven Emmy nominations this year, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama (for Michael C. Hall) and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama (which John Lithgow went on to win).

Dexter wraps up its current run on Sunday, December 12.
